I consider it a great honor when someone invites me to help with their struggles. My passion is to help individuals and couples who have been devastated by infidelity, problematic sexual behavior, substance abuse, relationship struggles, trauma, and partner betrayal trauma. Couples in recovery are especially important to me as too many relationships end due to losing hope or not knowing how to heal together. Healing a marriage after betrayal or other life stressors IS possible. I also enjoy working with individuals who want to quit their addictive behavior, as well as spouses of addicts who need supportive counseling.
I don't believe in a cookie cutter approach to therapy. Everyone is different and deserves a personalized experience when seeking help. I use a direct but gentle approach in session, along with feedback where needed. My personal philosophy to treatment is that I do not ask someone to do what I am not willing to do myself.
A bit about me personally ...I am a breast cancer survivor (2014)... a multiple trauma survivor... and am active in my own recovery process. My passion for this work has grown over the years for many reasons, but especially after I lost my younger brother to the disease of addiction in 2011. I never get tired of learning. I love studying addiction, recovery, trauma resolution, parenting, and relationships. I am fascinated by how powerful the brain is in our healing. I incorporate a lot of neuroscience and attachment theory into my therapy practices, continually seeking ways to supplement my knowledge through high quality training and literature.
