EMDR/THERAPY Intensives with Angie Ridings:
Healing made more accessible
I believe that EMDR and trauma therapy should be more accessible and convenient. Since the pandemic, therapy options are even more limited and scarce, which is why I have extended my private practice to include Saturday intensives. As a person who has participated in my own personal therapy, I know firsthand that EMDR and trauma therapy is effective because it was pivotal for my own healing from childhood events, breast cancer, and the tragic death of my brother.
EMDR is an evidenced-based therapy approach used to treat posttraumatic stress symptoms, addictive behaviors, depression, anxiety, phobias, fears, chronic illness, medical issues, grief and loss, performance anxiety, sexual assault, sleep disturbance, violence and abuse. EMDR is safe, effective, highly researched, and endorsed by reputable sources such as the World Health Organization, National Alliance on Mental Illness, U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, U.S. Department of Defense, International Society of Traumatic Stress Studies, American Psychiatric Association, American Psychological Association, SAMSHA and the national health services of many countries including the United States, Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Italy, and Israel.

Benefits of the intensive approach:
1. Convenient and quicker: Intensives are designed for people who either want to work on a specific problem and move on with their lives or for people who need a supplemental boost to enhance the weekly/biweekly work they are already doing with another therapist. Since intensives are always on Saturday, it is much more convenient and will not take you away from work and family on a regular basis. Intensives range from 3 to 6 hours and typically start at 9:00 a.m.
2. Cost effective and efficient: The overall cost of an intensive is less since intensives are highly focused on a specific goal(s) and you are opening up once. Weekly therapy over the course of a year requires opening yourself up and closing each week, cutting down on actual processing, which makes the work much slower. More can be accomplished in a shorter amount of time due to how intensives are structured.
3. Get your schedule back: No more weekly appointments. Accomplish your goals and enjoy your life. Come back anytime for a follow up if you need to tie up loose ends or work through a different problem/goal.
4. No waiting: Goodbye waitlist. Email me to set up a free 15-minute phone consultation to see if we are a good fit for each other.
5. Easy to reschedule or cancel: If you have paid your deposit and need to cancel, I can reimburse your deposit up until two weeks prior. If you need to reschedule for some reason, I can easily move you to another available weekend up until a few days prior.
6. You don't have to live in Oklahoma City! Plan ahead and make reservations to stay nearby for your one day intensive.
7. Personal growth and customized healing: Intensives are customized to meet your personal goals and can be molded around any theme. Some common themes are: betrayal trauma, self-worth, shame, intimacy/sexual issues, body image, parenting stressors, deconstructing/reconstructing faith, toxic work environments, healing harmful or abusive religious experiences, childhood events, current life events, addictive behaviors, boundaries, diffusing triggers, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, medical/health distress, and women's issues.
8. Straight forward pricing: My intensives are private pay at a rate of $200/hour and range from 3-6 hours. Budgeting and planning are easier with a scheduled intensive. There are no hidden or surprise fees. No insurance is involved in intensive work since insurance does not cover therapy intensives. Once the intensive is scheduled, a $200 deposit is required to confirm your reservation. The deposit will be applied towards your balance at the end of our intensive.
9. Variety: Intensives are not just talking. We will use a unique blend of talk therapy, EMDR therapy, brainspotting techniques, somatic experiencing, IFS, attachment theory, polyvagal theory, and brain-based approaches.
