About Me:
I consider it a great honor when someone invites me to help with their struggles. My passion is to help individuals and couples heal who have been devastated by trauma, addiction, and stressful life events. I specialize in all kinds of trauma such as childhood abuse/neglect, unexpected life events, a health crisis, discrimination/racism, natural disasters, and betrayal trauma caused by deception related to infidelity, porn, emotional affairs, sex addiction, and substance abuse. I love helping couples heal after these events. Every year I invest a lot in learning as I never want to stop growing as a therapist and on a personal level.
I use unique blends of EMDR therapy (certified through EMDRIA), Somatic Experiencing (Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute), and the Multidimensional Partner Trauma Model in healing betrayal trauma (certified CPS through APSATS). With couples I use a psychobiological approach, which utilizes a blend of attachment theory and neurobiology, mixed with a splash of Gottman methods & Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.
I don't believe in a cookie cutter approach to therapy. Everyone is different and deserves a personalized experience when seeking help. I use a direct but gentle approach in session, along with feedback where needed. My personal philosophy to treatment is that I do not ask someone to do what I am not willing to do myself.
A bit about me personally ...I am a 2x breast cancer survivor (2014 & 2022)... a multiple trauma survivor... I am active in my own recovery process...and I am a PhD Psychology student. My passion for this work has grown over the years for many reasons, but especially after I lost my younger brother to the disease of addiction in 2011. I never get tired of learning. I love studying addiction, recovery, trauma resolution, parenting, and relationships. I am fascinated by how powerful the brain and nervous system is in our healing. I incorporate a lot of neuroscience and attachment theory into my therapy practices, continually seeking ways to supplement my knowledge through high quality training and literature.
